We’d like to let all of our StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty beta test participants know that the first phase of the beta test will be coming to an end in all regions on Monday, May 31. The beta test will be unavailable for several weeks while we make some hardware and software configuration changes in preparation for the final phase of the beta test and the release of the game. We plan to bring the beta test back online for a couple of weeks prior to the game’s launch to complete our testing. We’ll have more details to share about when this final beta-testing phase will begin at a later date.
We’d like to thank all of our beta-test participants for your enthusiasm, dedication, and valuable feedback during the beta test, and we look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on the StarCraft II beta test as the game’s July 27 launch approaches.

I'll be disappointed if they don't enable 3v3 or 4v4 before they take down the servers. At the very least, I hope they let us test it before release.

I doubt they view 3v3/4v4 as competitive, so they have no desire to do balance testing for it, similar to how FFA is unranked.

i doubt that, they did it for war3. think of it like 2v2 arena. its dumb, they're not balancing the game off of it, but hell why not let the kids have some fun.

they obviously don't give a shit about 3v3 and 4v4 and have said the beta is for balancing 1v1
perhaps they meant 1v1 and 2v2, as there were the new maps, and maps moved out of 2v2 ladder.
so then you would see 3v3 and 4v4 when they don't care about balancing anymore.. so on like a public beta test.. 2 weeks before launch. thats my call. or its tomorrow and these posts look dumb

there are going to be 3v3 4v4 and ffa ladders, but they're not going to balance the game around any of those.

All that matters is whether or not it's fun.

thats true, and not true at the same time. Some of the funnest games i've played have been horrible balanced, and thats what made them fun. were they GOOD game ? not really, but they were fun as shit.

Warcraft III was more fun before they tried to completely rebalance it in TFT. WoW was more fun before they tried to equate every class mathematically. I'm a firm believer that balance can go too far.

they both became far better games because of it tho.

using the game genie to have p-wings on every level in SMB3 was fun as shit too...for an hour...
i'd prefer a balanced game.

We previously announced that the first phase of the StarCraft II beta test would be coming to a close in all regions on Monday, May 31. In order to prepare for the final phase of beta testing, we plan to extend the current phase in all regions until Monday, June 7. After this date, the beta test will be unavailable for several weeks while we make some hardware and software configuration changes for the final phase of the beta test and the release of the game. We plan to bring the beta test back online for a couple of weeks prior to the game’s launch to complete our testing. We’ll have more details to share about when this final phase will begin at a later date.

People generally get confused by the way they try to balance things, WoW is the perfect example. They've stated several times in the past that they were / would never try to make every class equal. They simply pass over each class in a never-ending circle trying to balance the issues they see for the current game. Of course, if one class has a very distinct advantage against another, they'll try to even the ground so to speak, but the advantage will still exist.
